Our Vision

To conserve and improve the environment and natural resources of the State.

Our Mission

To plan, coordinate, promote and oversee the environment conservation and enhancement programmes through environmentally compatible management practices and technologies.

Our Objectives

• Planning, coordinating, promoting and overseeing the environment, science & technology and pollution prevention, abatement and control activities and programmes for environment protection, conservation and enhancement by regulation, policy formulation, supervision and monitoring using innovative technologies.
• Strengthening of environment awareness by facilitating organized collection, collation and dissemination of environmental information.
• Promote evaluation of environmental interventions through appraisal and assessment and benchmarking of standards.
• To facilitate monitoring & evaluation, decentralized planning & decision making through web based GIS applications.
• To deploy appropriate strategies for adaptation & mitigation of impacts of climate change including enhanced monitoring of glaciers & updation of glacial inventory.

• Climate Change Action Plan for Himachal Pradesh.
• Environment Master Plan for the State of H.P.
• Setting up of Planetarium and a Science City.
• Extension of Agricultural Biotechnological inputs and services to the farmers of Himachal Pradesh.

• To implement the Environment Rules and Regulations for protection of pristine environment, flora and fauna of Himachal Pradesh.
• To inculcate a habit of conservative use of all natural resources and respect the Laws of Nature.
• To share, exchange information with other citizens in order to encourage sustainable development and improve our habitat.
• To help us in making Himachal Pradesh Clean and Green.
• To enforce environmental Code of Conduct.
• To assist the State Government in achieving the desired objective of making the State a "environmentally sustainable sound state".
• Associate and assist the state Government in Propagation of Environmental Education and Awareness.
