For encouraging application oriented research, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh has taken initiative to support H.P. Specific Research & Development Project Proposals for strengthening the research and development in various fields of Environment, Climate Change & Natural Resource Management and Biotechnology in the State of Himachal Pradesh. Entries are invited on the under mentioned thematic areas from the Scientists and Technologists who are working in the academic sector, National labs and other recognized R&D institutions in H.P.

Sub-themes for which these R&D Projects have been invited are as under: -

Thematic Area 1: Environment, Climate Change & Natural Resource Management

  1. Impact of Hydro-Power Projects on Environment in H.P. specifying minimum ecological flow of river streams.
  2. Solid Waste Management with special emphasis on disposal of polythene/ non-biodegradable waste management in H.P.
  3. Impact of Environmental Pollution viz; Water, Air, Soil on Human Health and remedial measures.
  4. Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture, Horticulture, Water sector in Himachal Pradesh.
  5. Climate Change and Health Impacts with special emphasis on adaptive measures in H.P.
  6. Problems of Environmental Pollution in industrial areas of H.P.- remedial measures.
  7. Strengthening of Institutional laboratories of academic institutions through calibration of equipments for accuracy in research.

Thematic Area 2: Biotechnology

  1. Livelihood promotion through biotechnology based enterprise in Rural Areas.
  2. Development of crop varieties for disease resistance in Himachal Pradesh using biotechnology.

The project proposals for consideration under this scheme can be submitted every year after the advertisement in leading newspapers by the DEST and circulation to research institutions.

The duration of the project shall normally be 2 years only and extension shall be granted on case to case basis for core research activities for maximum upto 4 years after annual review and reconsideration of expert committee duly approved by the Director, DEST.
